Results are listed alphabetically. There is no price ranking: prices in different currencies and bases (per class, per term, per year) are not comparable. Children’s and teen classes appear only when you choose a youth audience or open Children & Teens. Online programs are never counted as physically located in a state or city. Items marked Sponsored are paid placements; they never change recognition status, verification or order.

About actor training in Brazil

How actor training is organised

Brazil has two professional routes into acting: technical-level courses (Técnico em Teatro) at schools such as USP's Escola de Arte Dramática, CAL and Célia Helena, and higher-education routes such as bachelor's degrees (UNIRIO's Bacharelado em Atuação Cênica, CAL's Bacharelado em Teatro) or the free tecnólogo course at SP Escola Superior de Teatro. Two of the schools state that completing their course allows the holder to request the DRT professional actor registration.

Qualification structures

Names and levels are local to Brazil. Similar names in other countries are not interchangeable.

Técnico em Teatro (vocational, upper-secondary level)
CAL describes its actor course as an official Curso de Educação Profissional Técnica de Nível Médio with the Habilitação de Técnico em Teatro; USP's EAD describes its Curso de Formação de Atores as Técnico em Teatro. Source
Bacharelado (bachelor's degree)
UNIRIO confers the degree Bacharel em Atuação Cênica after a minimum of eight semesters; CAL's Faculdade offers a three-year Bacharelado em Teatro. Source
Curso Superior Tecnólogo
SP Escola Superior de Teatro offers a free two-year Curso Superior Tecnólogo with eight study lines, including Atuação, which it says is recognised by MEC. Source

Languages and auditions

Teaching languages. The programmes researched teach in Portuguese.

Admissions and auditions. Selection is usually a specific-skills test or audition rather than grades alone: USP's EAD uses three in-person stages beginning with a scene of up to 3 minutes, UNIRIO uses a one-day Teste de Habilidades Específicas (practical class, scene up to 3 minutes, oral questioning), and CAL's bachelor's vestibular combines an online Portuguese written test with a live online scene.
